Aldi Stores are a supermarket chain based in Germany. In the UK Aldi has signed up to pledges in the Public Health Responsibility Deal. Aldi's pledges in the Responsibility Deal Alcohol Network include them being Signatories to Responsibility Deal Alcohol Network Labelling Pledge and to provide information on alcohol units and calories as well as agreeing to tackle under-age alcohol sales, provide support for the Drinkaware Trust and support community action on alcohol related harm. [1] As a member of the Responsibility Deal Food Network have agreed to salt reduction and artificial trans fats removal. [2]

Lobbying firms

In March 2015 Aldi dropped Weber Shandwick in favour of Burson Marsteller for UK public affairs support. It is understood BM will focus solely on the UK and WS will remain in place to handle corporate PR. The change comes after a huge popularity increase in the 'discount' stores with figures showing that £1 in every £10 spent in supermarkets are expected to go through Aldi or Lidl and Aldi's sales grew 17.3 percent compared to total supermarket sales increases 0.7 percent.[3]
