The Air Force Cyber Command (Provisional) was a unit which was tasked with integrating Cyber war into the US Air Force. It was stood down in Summer 2009 and replaced with a 'Cyber Numbered Air Force, the 24th Air Force'.[1]

According to its Gen. William T. Lord Commander, Air Force Cyber Command (Provisional)

it has been the duty, pleasure, and honor of all of us in AFCYBER (P) to be at the beginning of this historic and cultural journey for our USAF, and the nation, in a new warfighting domain... Since the standup of AFCYBER (P), you worked to codify cyber organizational and force structure, budget, education and training, and helped develop a new operational mindset. In addition, you helped write Air Force doctrine for fighting in the cyber domain.
Over the last year, the men and women of AFCYBER (P) developed a Roadmap for a new cyber career force complete with occupational specialties, training, Air Force Specialty Code mapping, and new occupational badge. You also worked to add a cyber warfighting aspect into every Air Force Flag Exercise and U.S. Air Force Warfare Center Weapon School Mission Employment.
We were able to integrate cyber into the Senior Leader Orientation Course, Wing and Group Commander's courses, and the beta cyber course for 3- and 4-star officers, and craft a Chief of Staff of the Air Force NOTAM which put all Airmen on notice as the first line of defense in cyberspace.
The list of your accomplishments goes on and on, but the important thing is that no matter how different Cyber may look five, or even 10 years from now, you, the men and women of AFCYBER (P), were there at the beginning. You are all a big part in making the first chapter of this amazing organization a success, and I want to say "thank you" for all your hard work and dedication to the AFCYBER (P) team. I wish you all the very best![2]
